MUTANT!!!

Finally finished in time for Christmas, 4 years late. Hope Phig is happy hes been waiting long enough!
Phig asked me if i could knock a lamp up for him for the many crazy useful parts, the best lil welding bench, loads of large lumps of metal, agitators and early morning headaches. nice one Linton engineering. keep up the good work. legend. and guess what? you found another thing your f-ing good at!
So here we have it the hybrid lamp, an alien blend of con rods and polished lush. you can pause it at pretty much any stance

SPANNER LAMP.

Was commissioned to make a floor standing lamp by my Friend Steph at Barber Macabre, it has taken ages to get the lamp shade right but i am now super happy with the finished result.

The base is an old gas can cut in half[the other half from the nose cone of my rocket ship] filled with a dirty old oil pump i found in the high street, this is heavy enough to keep it upright. The arm is made from many large old spanners with cone nuts welded on for a cable guide.
The lamp shade is made from a 1930s Joe Lucas car headlamp but was missing the front trim and glass so using scrap brass i sculpted a new one[not easy] I think it works well and even has the new trade mark copper hand stamped makers badge on it. Delicious.

More photos of this and a second version coming next year that will be for sale.

GRILL MIRROR.

Got my hands on a load of vintage car grills and have decided to make them into mirror frames. This is the first one i have made, it will be a gift for my brother Ben's 30th birthday. I believe the grill is from a 50s Wolsey? the mirror had to be in 2 pieces which is cool as when you look directly into it you can only see your hands.
Nico at Ornamental Conifer did the sign writing which looks great and adds that touch of custom. Hope he likes it and there will be more to come.

ANY OLD IRON!

Vintage tractor seats are very heavy, can just about ride with 2 on board tried 4 but it would have ripped the front off my (t)rusty camel.

PHOTOS FROM THE HERD.

THE OPENING TO THE HERD.

Well, its not often you get the chance to burn stuff in the street like hobos, but on the opening night we managed to do just that and didn't get any trouble from the 'feds', even when I completely smoked the street out twice overloading Stokie the burner.

Thanks so much to Rob for hosting the event - what a geezer, I think it pushed him to do many jobs he hasn't got round to for a while, nice one. Thanks also go to Stevo the van man, Roland the bump start wizard, Geof the postbike baloon man extraordinaire for entertainment, Nico at Ornamental Conifer and anyone else who helped out.

What a nice crowd of people we had turn up to enjoy a cold yet toasty evening fueled by Stella, Diablo, Wood and Soffles.

Soffles done us all proud cooking up hot butternut and pumpkin soup on Stokie and handing out her special recipe pitta chips mmmmm, if you haven't tried these already get some quick or get her to supply your party, event or shop\pub[sofflesblogspot.com]

Get ready for the closing night where all purchased artwork can be collected and I will be running two burners[double the heat] on the 21st Dec 6pm till 9pm see you there.

JACK LAMPS

New adjustable height desk lamps made from vintage 1930s car jacks and vintage motorbike engine parts.

The top one is made from Villiers parts, a tool handle, a magneto and a spiral beval gear from some engine?. The top spins round 360 degrees and has an adjustable height 21cm to 32cm from the lamp base to the bottom of the shade.

The matching two lamps are made from BSA parts, 1930s 'crackerjack' car jacks and taps. They also spin 360 degrees and have a height adjustment of 17cm to 38cm from the base of the lamp to the bottom of the shade this pair flip over to become uplights and will only be sold as a pair more details and prices on my website soon.

MORE TROOPS FOR THE HERD

More members to the herd, the top photos are of a cow looking creature made from ali bike cranks, hubs and pedals[he was a commission and has left already, shame he was my fav beastie].

Thanks to Rob at Sargent & Co more will be coming and a few will hopefully be on show and available to purchase, will keep you posted.........

MK1 STOKEY

Stokey has to be the best l'il robot I have ever made and my first attempt at a full size potbelly stove, he has kept many people warm -sometimes too hot. The first time I fired him up we managed to fill our garden up with smoke but he is sorted now.

After many alterations he is finished although I have already added 2 more air intake pipes and a slightly differnt colour paint, I just haven't had time to take photos.  He has an eye that is made of the end of an exhaust and a piece of ceramic glass that can withstand temps of 750 degrees, the paint can withstand 65o I have no idea how hot he actually gets but a pint of water boils over in 21 seconds.

The first glass eye shatterd because cold milk dripped onto it but I have solved this by adding an eyelid that should keep the rain off. He has a safety setting where the door can be closed and no sparks or wood can come out of him it also slows him down for an efficient burn.

He has 2 pokers one for opening the door the other long one is for reaching the back of the can  for a rake about, the hotplate where the cooking is done is made from stainless so it is easy to clean. He could be fitted into a house with the correct flue parts , I will look into this?.............

BOWSERS NEW HOME

After the removal of the bike racks Bowser was successfully moved to his new home where he will be permanently installed, he is part of a new adventure playground built by the cool guys at Monkey Do. The park [Three Corners Playground] near Exmouth Mkt wont open till the end of Oct\Nov, the plans look super good with some great ideas including pedal powered water cannons and a giant fortress. I am happy Bowser will be scaring kids as he maybe fitted with a speaker and water cannon on a motion sensor. Having an 8 ton 360 digger on hand sure made assembling him loads easier. At the opening day of the park the local kids may be re-naming him, any ideas?. Will try to post updates as they happen.

The position of his arms have changed to get more range from the water cannon.
