Nantes

On a recent trip to France my girlfriend and I visited Les Machine de l'Ile Nantes which featured a 40 ton mechanical elephant that walked around part of a ship building yard. Amazing exibition well worth a visit, millions of pounds have been spent to create this attraction.

Nante is birth place of Jules Verne so many of these giant kinetic sculptures are inspired by 20,000 Leagues under the Sea.
I spotted these fire hydrant things  all over France they look to me like beetle type bugs, very cool I want one.

New lamps coming soon

Two lamps coming soon - one has already been sold and I have some interest in the other.

mbp mini bike commision

The invasion is coming! These images are of a 2007 commission for the MBP National Championship, I am hoping that the winners have not been using the trophies as parts to put back in their bikes - I know that one of them is already missing an arm!

Coming Soon....
I was commissioned to make a ray gun, not quite finished yet as I need to install flashing lights and sound effects. This piece was made with an antique drill, scrap brass, car parts, copper tubing and bicycle parts. It did have a vintage radio valve in one of the pods on top however this didn't work out (it got smashed) to be included in the next design!

Welcome to the new blog spot for the Mechanical Alchemist

Where I will be posting all of my latest news, exhibitions, commissions and events and ideas - comments and feedback welcome!
